My Story of Patience in Business
Almost a year ago a prospective client reached out to me and booked a discovery call. Our call went great and I felt like we really hit it off.
I was excited for the possibility of the kind of work we can do together and had a feeling that she felt the same way.
At first, she told me that she wanted to sign up for the Clarity Coaching Package. And then… I don’t know exactly what happened, but suffice it to say she never signed up.
She reached out again this past summer to let me know that she thinks that she is finally ready. But then again, she somehow disappeared.
I should have given up on her after that. But when she reached out a couple of weeks ago, I decided to give her one more chance. And I’m so glad I did, because we are now deep in our work together!
Listen, I know that patience is not a trait that comes easy to entrepreneurial minded folks. We see a vision for ourselves and our business and we want it now. We have an opportunity that we believe will support our vision and we will do anything in our power to make it happen.
And that’s where the importance of patience comes in to play.
A year ago, when that ideal client came my way, I saw it as the perfect opportunity for me at the time. I was energized by the idea and it felt right. I can’t say that I wasn’t a tiny disappointed when it all fell through twice.
But if someone would have whispered in my ear and told me that in a year from now it would all fall into place perfectly… I think I would have been able to go through the process with a lot more patience and non-attachment.
And the truth is, the depth and quality of the work we are able to do this year is so much greater that it would have been. My client’s business has changed and grown over the past year, and working with her now feels fun and satisfying. I know that it would have worked out fine last year, but this year it is even better!
I truly hope that next time I feel impatient, I’m able to take a moment to think of this story and remember that G-d’s timing is perfect timing.
So patience, honey, patience :)
